Alan Glover

Alan was a tear away fast bowler in his youth and is regarded by many players as the fastest bowler they saw. Alan had a playing career with the club that spanned 20 years. During those years he played in four premierships, captained the club and was selected to represent Country Victoria. He also had a couple of short stints playing in the SCA.
After some years away from the club he returned to coach the U16 team in 1986. He had immediate success coaching the team to two premierships. While he coached the juniors with some success for the next few years he would have to wait another 10 years for another premiership in 1999/00, quickly followed by another premiership against the odds in 2001/02.
While their wasn’t a lot of premiership success for the juniors in the 90's as we all know that is not the ultimate goal in coaching junior players. The goal is to prepare juniors for senior cricket and to ensure that they enjoy the game. The senior club claimed seven premierships during the 1990's and the vast majority of those players had come through the junior ranks. Alan and the other junior coaches deserve a great deal of credit for those premierships. Another factor in Alan’s coaching that should be noted is the amount of respect that that is shown to him by the junior players while with him and after they leave junior ranks.

Alans memorable moments
Senior Premierships, Coaching Jnr Premierships, Melbourne Country weeks, Selection for Country Victoria Against Victorian Shield Side and TCC playing and beating MCC Eleven at Albert Park
Highlights of his career were playing in Premiership sides for Tatura and being successful in
taking several wickets to help clinch those victories gave me a great deal of pride.
Getting a few wickets playing against Northcote whose team consisted of a few Australian and Victorian players. Also mixing with those players after the game.
The lasting friendships made with opposition players through socializing after games.
