Andrew Crawford

Andy was awarded Life Membership at the end of the 88/89 season. He joined the club in 1970 and found premiership success very quickly with B Grade in 1972. In fact Andy can lay claim to being the only player to have played in all four of the clubs B Grade premierships which is quite a feat considering they span 23 seasons. As can be seen below that is not the only record that he holds.
Andy has served the club in an official capacity for over 14 seasons which included six seasons as President. Winning the best clubman award during his reign as President gives an indication on just how hard he worked during his term. Apart from the official 14 years Andy has always been willing to help the club in any way even when not actively playing. He was the first to put his hand up to offer support when the idea of a reunion was raised despite the fact he hadn't been involved at the club for several seasons.
Andys personal highlights include unbeaten innings of 107 and 98 along with the premierships.
Andys memorable moments include a game against Murchison when tension between the teams ended up in physical confrontation. A game at Toolamba was abandoned due to a massive storm at about 4pm and a match at Wyuna played during a grass hopper plague.
Highlights off the field include Saturday nights at the Middle Pub and the laying of a cricket pitch on the Football ground.
A favorite story about Andy relates to a Six a side tornament held at Tatura. It had been an extremely hot day and Andy had been running the kiosk out of the old soccer rooms. This included cooking hamburgers and snags all day. Well as you would expect the organizers enjoyed a few quiet drinks following their hard work. Talk got around to what some of the older members got up to in there younger days. Andy spoke about the fact he had been in a motorbike club in his younger wilder days, needless to say some of the younger members of the group found it hard to imagine that Andy would have been a wild biker in his youth. Later that evening he decided to show that he still had a bit of his youth left in him. Andy jumped into his old 2 door mazda and preceded to do some of the finest circle work in a two door hatch that has ever been seen, before leaving through the main gates in a ball of dust.
