Jack King

Jack King

Jack King without a doubt is the most successful captain and bowler the club has ever seen. He was a medium fast bowler who used swing as his most potent weapon. Jack evened opened the bowling in his last premiership at the age of 53. He was a very attacking captain who was always moving the field slightly to keep both the batsman and fieldsman on their toes.

Jack captained Tatura A for ten seasons and captured seven premierships. Along the way he captured seven wickets in an innings on 11 occasions and 10 or more wickets in a match 9 times, not to mention three hat tricks.

All this on field success came after he moved to the town at the age of forty, so there is no doubt that the club didn’t see the best of Jack King.

Apart from his staggering on field record Jack also worked tirelessly for the club off the ground for more than a decade. Apart from winning trophies he also donated trophies to the club for many years following his retirement.

Jack owned a café in Hogan street where the Kebab shop now resides, behind the shop was Jacks home and his own concrete cricket pitch.
