Arthur Bruton

Arthur or "Uncle" as he is affectionately known around the club moved to town in the late 80s and immediately immersed himself within the club. Several club members can vividly remember Arthurs first interactions at the club. It was at the Annual Meeting and this bloke who hadnt played a game or even trained with the club yet was asking questions about subs, juniors etc. This was a bit of a shock considering normally, AGMs are very quick and quite boring !
Arthur served the club in a number of roles. These included as Treasurer, Secretary, Junior Coach, Curator and B Reserve captain.

Arguably his biggest impact was as a junior coach a role he performed for many years continuing well after his children had passed through.

Arthur was also a tough competitor on the field and was well known for his grit as a batsman and his deceiving slow mediums. Arthur opened the batting in two B grade premierships and 1st drop in a B Reserve premiership playing vital innings in all three.

Arthurs favourite cricket memories are:
His first Premiership at Tatura was with a team chock full of characters, including the captain who he used to pick up from pub each Saturday before the game.
Fun and games during dairy week, which included tent surfing.
playing cards in the little old kiosk until 3am
Taking home a future Life member who was under the weather after running the cricket club bar for the first time.
Played a game with his three sonss and son in law in the one match..
