Trevor Downie

Trevor joined the club in 1978 and immediately threw himself into the deep end to take on the Secretary's job It was a position he would hold for ten seasons. Robert Wildes was the treasurer for the entire time of Trevors time as Secretary and the two formed the foundation of the club for a decade. Trevors work helped form a solid financial foundation, which the club was able to utilise to bring the long held dream of club rooms to fruition.
In his time as secretary he also introduced several new things to the club. One of which was the staging of the annual six a side competition. The planning and work that had to go into an event this size is hard to imagine. Organising 16 teams from around the state, three grounds numerous umpires and helpers was quite an undertaking. However it always went off without a hitch, just like anything Trevor is involved in.
While Trevor has now sold his business and retired, Trevaskis Engineering has continued its long term support for the club whether it be providing sponsorship, employing our overseas players or building our rollers.
Needless to say when Trevor came back to take on the Presidents job at a time when the club required a steady hand everybody in the club was extremely pleased.

Since then Trevor has also played an important part in the design, construction and upgrades to the training nets at Howley Oval.

Despite all the work off the ground Trevor still found time to carve out a very impressive on field record as well which includes three premierships.
