Bruce Gross

Bruce joined the club in 1968 and served on the committee for over 10 seasons. Bruces' legacy to the club is without doubt the time and effort he put into preparing the wickets. Bruce was the clubs curator for many seasons and the amount of time he spent on the wickets was incredible. Like all curators he couldn’t please all the players as of cause the bowlers wanted plenty of pace and bounce while the batsman wanted it to play like a road. Bruce prepared excellent wickets that played true and gave a bit for the batsman and a bit for the bowlers, though it was probably better for spinners than quicks. Bruce was a spinner after all.

The club members certainly appreciated his work as shown by the two Clubman awards won while he was curator

During his time on the field Bruce played over 200 games which included four premierships, 7 bowling trophies and a club Champioship.
Bruce had a few nicknames over the years which included captain snooze and the falling tree, a reference to the way he fielded in the slips cordon. Many a player learned the trick from Bruce, if you dive as the ball goes past someone else has to chase it.

Bruce's on field highlights was captaining the A Reserve Premiership in 87/88. His
memorable moments included getting knocked out after dropping a return catch at Kyabram and receiving his Life membership in 1995
